Hospital Photo Shoot

Travis always takes his own photos in the hospital, and watching their photographer gave him a few ideas.  These pictures are bittersweet for several reasons.  First of all, where did the time go?  A month has already passed tomorrow.  Time does fly when you're having fun.  But moreso, the fact that as we were literally leaving the hospital, Travis picked his camera off of the side table, got the strap hung on the table and dropped it in the floor breaking the lens.  I was sick.  So now, other than the hospital pictures I have left, I have iphone pictures.

See how he scratched his face up that first night?
Since RMC converted to the baby friendly hospital status, they have babies room with mothers 24 hours now.  So many people said, "Yeah, they don't take the babies to the nursery anymore at night."  That was my whole reason for STAYING in the hospital.  Give me 2 nights of sleep before I take this on.  So, that first night, I'd feed, lay him down, he was awake.  It wasn't quite time to sleep, but I remember mentioning it to the nursery nurse, and she said, "Yeah, he just can smell you and wants to be near you...if you find you can't sleep though, we can take him for a while so you can rest."  Sing choirs of angels.  I did try to tough it out some, but at 3 something in the morning, when I just couldn't lay him in the bassinet without him crying, I paged them and they took him.  He didn't come back until 8:30 that morning!  I said, "Was he sleeping that whole time?"  Yep.  So that night, I fed him and called them at about 11pm.  They took him and brought him back once to eat about 4 hours later and then took him again and didn't bring him in until the morning.  I said, "So...is he sleeping in that same bed in there?  I mean, what are you all doing to him?"  Not a thing.  Apparently, if I wasn't near him, he had no use to wake up.  I had to laugh.  So yeah, YOU may not be able to send your baby to the nursery at RMC, but I sure did.  Felt great, too.

 Sweet baby
For those hospital days, I'd look at him and be like, "Who are you???  You don't look like my child."  Everyone has an opinion of what a new baby looks like.  The response is overwhelmingly TRAVIS.  I do see Travis in him, but I'm just terrible at that.  I very rarely see someone else in a brand new baby, even mine.  Except Jaggar, whose hospital picture was identical to Sage's.  I guess that's why Costner was a surprise to me because he didn't.  He has his own look.  However, as the days pass, I do see some of Jaggar in him too.  He has the least amount of hair (even though he had a good amount, especially in the back) than any of my kids and the lightest in color.  But I guess for the most part, it's a light brown and will probably end up the same as his siblings'.
