3 Months

Costner Bleu is already 3 months old.  In some ways, it feels like he's so big, but then I go, "Well...3 months is still so tiny," in terms of planning baby 4.  I kid.  I kid.  He still makes those little noises, so he is STILL a newborn.  He has grown out of his 0-3 month clothes for the most part--all of the one pieces and a lot of pants.  He did something pretty awesome on his 3 month birthday, which was a week ago and pictured below.  He laughed!  It was so cute, and it was almost unreal because it sounds so funny coming out of him.  He can get pretty loud these days.  He is such a friendly baby, similar to how Jaggar was, and smiles at anyone who will talk to him.  That smile...it's hard for me to get his real smile in its fullness on here because when he sees the phone, he freezes up.   He is very strong and always seems to turn himself lengthwise in the bed.  He can't stand to be covered up, just like Sage.  Every morning when he wakes up and sees me, he gets the biggest grin like it's the first time he's seeing me again.  It's so awesome.   Such a happy boy he is and a gift to us.  He is very loved, to put it mildly.

This is kind of the look we get when he is smiling and we suddenly try to take a picture.
This is a better version than the above picture but still not as big as he really smiles.
It's hard to tell what color his hair will be. Probably a brown like the other 2 if we go by what's growing on the back of his head.   He doesn't have a ton compared to my other two, but he also has cradle cap.  Thankfully, it's a mild version of some pictures I've seen online, but the "scales" all over his scalp (which I'd have to shine light on and point out for you to notice) give it kind of an orange-y tint at times.  Hopefully that goes away soon.

The Best Lullaby

Since Costner was born, I've discovered something he loves.  He can be screaming his head off, but if I lay him down and turn the hair dryer on, he instantly relaxes.  Sometimes, he'll even drift off to sleep.  It's so funny because it's something I can actually get done without him thinking he needs to be held.  The second you turn it off though, be prepared for the interrupted meltdown that had been occurring to resume.  Funny guy.  This is how he is with it on.

2 Months

This "little" boy turned 2 months old last Tuesday.  He probably didn't get the appropriate celebration since we went to the doctor for his 2 month check up and got immunizations.  The initial shots didn't bother him much, but he was very upset later that afternoon for a few hours.  But that went away as quickly as it came.  Costner weighed 12 lbs, 8 oz and was 23  1/2 inches long.  He is in the 70th percentile for both height and weight.  I found Jaggar's weight at that exact age of 9 weeks, and he was a whole pound and few ounces LESS than Costner.  Shocking, I know.  Costner isn't sleeping through the night yet, but he definitely goes into that deeper sleep for the night between 10-11pm.  He is the happiest baby in the world when he wakes up in the mornings.  He's really starting to take notice of his surroundings (I can see him eying the letters on his wall deciding which one he will rip off first when that time comes.) and is starting to try to talk back to us in coos.  He is definitely moving a LOT more.  I'm not talking crawling or anything.  But he's doing the bicycle peddle with his feet like he's running,  and if you lay him one way, he can turn himself (still on his back) to have his head and feet in totally different spots...like laying lengthwise across the bed.  The only thing I wish he'd do differently is to slow down.

2 month birthday

Growing Boy

Costner has come a long way from this....
To this.

He has put on a little weight.
It's a lot of work to be this cute.

Faces

Baby Bleu is getting very expressive these days.

 He looks ginormous, I know.

So sad.  This was probably something tragic like not being held after 2 seconds of laying down.
But he goes to instantly happy again.

He is also on the verge of trying to "talk" with lots of coos.

8 Weeks Old: Jaggar Vs Costner

Okay, so I found a picture of Jaggar at 8 weeks old on
the exact day that Costner turned 8 weeks old (last Wednesday).  Umm...they don't really look alike at all, do they?  For one, Jaggar needed a haircut when he was born.  I didn't realize how much hair he had.  Sage had just as much, I believe.  And Costner...well, he's definitely not bald, but the majority of his hair is in the back.  Different but equally as cute, I think.

I will find out for sure on Tuesday at his 2 month checkup, but I think Costner has blown the other 2 away in weight.
 Such a sweet angel.

Cuteness Overload

7 weeks old now...eek, 8 tomorrow.  Don't you wanna squeeze him?  I just want to bite his cheeks!  His waist is overflowing on the tops of his pants.  Sadly, I relate these days.  Not that I've really cared enough to change it just yet.  I'm just enjoying this beauty.

Costner has had eye issues the past few weeks.  You can see it here.  It's constantly oozing and caking up.  One day it seems better and the next, not so much.  He doesn't act like it bothers him.  If it doesn't clear up, his 2 month check up is next week, so no worries.

Noisy Sleeper

Costner Bleu-Jack, as he's still known around here, looks like a peaceful sleeper, and he is.  But he is noisy, yet more proof that Travis is indeed the father.  Look at that baby here.

Don't let this fool you.  This was the first and last time that I got him to take this.  I see pictures of newborns leaving the hospital with pacifiers.  How on earth they do that, I do not know.  I wanted him to take it, specifically just at night, when he has a hard time settling himself and isn't quite sure what he wants.  He will not allow it in his mouth and has a look of disgust on his face like I am requesting that he eat lint out of the dryer.  No milk, no point.  Useless.

Who Are You Callin' Fat?

Costner Bleu is a chunk.  My neck and shoulders hurt often, and I know why.  That would be because that tiny newborn has almost doubled his birth weight in 7 weeks.  Travis weighed him tonight, and he weighed 13 lbs.  They say they like them to be back at birth weight in 2 weeks.  He had surpassed his birth weight in one week. When you first take him, he feels light, especially if you haven't held a newborn lately.  But give it a few minutes.  It's so funny because he always has an expression like, "What?  What's the problem?"  I love my happy, chunky baby.

My dad said that he looked like Buddha.

 Notice his chins.

Christmastime is (was) here.

I loved having a sweet newborn at Christmastime, but it did make me forget it was Christmastime some days.  We watched a LOT of Christmas movies because I was and am more than content with being home.  And because we live with Jaggar, the Christmas kid.  I told Travis, "I can't believe it's Christmas again."  He said, "Julie, it's never NOT Christmas in our house.  We watch Christmas movies from February on.  The rest of the world is just celebrating with us now."  Ha, true.  So one of the things I needed to do was get a snapshot of Costner for his "My First Christmas" ornament that Mema got him.  Sage and Jaggar have similar photo ornaments.

So I started taking these, and I just LOVE this.  That little hand waving.
Such a sweet angel.  I think this is the one that I used for the ornament.

Resting on Daddy one night.  He is awake, but that's how he is.  Just happy.
Sage didn't get out of school until the 21st, and I was so glad when she finally did.  Having a newborn and making sure we are up and ready for school is tough.  I had help, but it was nice to get a break not long after Costner was born.  Sage wanted Costner's picture with the elves.  OH...something the elves did do--the morning of Costner's birthday, I was already in the hospital being induced.  But when the kids woke up, the elves had one of Costner's blankets wrapped up with a note that said, "We heard you are having a brother today.  We got a new sister!"  Inside the blanket was Caroline, our newest blonde elf friend.  So, we have THREE elves now.  Sage was thrilled.
 My 3 babies

I think this was second day of Christmas break, and on this day, Costner's cord came off.
His belly button looked really weird after it came off.  It doesn't look like this picture anymore.  At one point prior, I almost ripped his cord off.  It was bloody, and it made me sick.  His doctor assured me that it was fine and was meant to come off.  I mentioned to Mom the day it came off that it looked like an outie, and she said that when people or babies, maybe, had hernias they'd tape them down, so maybe I could tape it.  I said, "Mom, it's not a hernia.  If he has an outie, he has an outie."
On the Saturday before Christmas, just 3 days before actually, I decided to go to Target and do some last minute shopping with the baby.  I don't know why because that place was insane.  I didn't know that many people lived here.  But I got some things that I needed to finish up, and baby was great.
The next day, Sunday, was our Christmas service, and even though I hadn't attended any rehearsals, I came to sing with the choir.  I knew I wasn't putting Costner in the nursery at this point, so I took Sage with me and let her stay in the back.with him since we were only singing 2 songs.  There were lots of people back there, and one of my friends, Sondra, held him because I wasn't going to make a 7 year old entirely responsible.  I was glad we went because Mitch was in town and he got to meet Costner after the first service.
And so did Heather...before Luke snatched him away from her.

Costner was a big hit at church and was so good and loved being held by some new people.   I love this picture because he looks like he's smiling.
