A few weeks ago, I saw that Costner had what looked like a bite or blister on the inside of his middle finger. Of course, Travis wasn't here. I honestly just thought..."Hmmm...maybe he smashed it?" Actually, I was pretty sure that he did in my cabinet a few days ago. But days later, it was still there. When Travis got home, and I showed it to him, he was like, "I have never seen the crazy finger things that go on in this house." I tried to see if I could get anything out of it with a needle...and 20 minutes later, there was a small line that rose to the top like a splinter. Crazy, right? I put him in the tub, got the skin soft, and peeled it right off and out...I held it in my hands before he knocked it out of my hand...and then I moved on. But a week went by...and it didn't look right. NOW cue my mental torture. I'm actually surprised I didn't go there before that moment. I know...thinking of Sage? Travis and I talked about it, and he said, "I think it's fine, but wouldn't that be like the worst thing EVER?" Well, what was the worst thing ever was him even uttering the statement, and I was like, "Hey, Mr Power of the tongue, how dare you even say that?" Long story short, I finally texted the doctor a picture. She said I was probably right about the splinter, but if it didn't look better, to bring him in in a few. Of course, that's what I did, and it turned out to be a place that had abscessed. Why??? I wanted to know. Common. Happens all the time, but if it didn't get better, he'd need to see a hand surgeon. UM NO. Even though she didn't think it was necessary to check his blood sugar, we did, and it was perfect. After some antibiotics, I'm so relieved to say it looks as good as new. Kids are stressful!
