Pretty Kiddos

It was also a good opportunity to take some pictures of the beautiful children that we have.  Jaggar, of course, was not in the mood.  This was, "Jaggar, smile."

 She still remembers my pregnancy pics with Jaggar, so she was so excited to do this.  Sweet girl.

 Love this one.  Looks like a little model, too.  It's no wonder she got class cutie, best dressed and best smile (I think?) in first grade last year.  This is one of my favorites of her.  Such a beauty and that's really inside and out.

Full Moon Farm

On their last weekend for this season, I took the kids to Full Moon Farm yesterday.  I can't tell you how much I wished that I'd taken them on ANY prior weekend.  The weather went from being hot to being winter.  And that's coming from someone who likes cool weather.  But the sun never came out yesterday.  I was stupid enough to mention it to Sage without looking at the weather, so I pretty much sealed the deal before the day even arrived.  The problem wasn't so much the temperature as it was that the sun never came out.  So it made the day feel that much colder along with the wind.  The kids were cold, but they didn't let it stop them from having fun.  We did last about 2  1/2 hours until the sun was going completely down, so it was good.  Next year, I won't make the mistake of letting fall creep in on us before we make our visit here.

 I wished I'd had them turn around in this because it's such an awesome picture, but oh well.

 This was their favorite part:  riding the pumpkin express.  Though it looks like a carrot to me.  It went really fast, and I could see them laughing while their heads were being whipped back.

 Jaggar preferred the huge inflatable slide, but it was hard to get a picture on that.  I could take a picture now of the burns on his face where he flung himself and flipped face first down it, causing "rug burns" on his head and under his eye.  But that was totally his fault, and I expect nothing less from him.  PS:  Yes, I did put a Christmas background up.  I hate Halloween this year.  I can't wait for it to be over.  Sooo, I'm moving on in every way that I can.

Last Days of Louisville

Hola.  I am alive.  Barely.  I am coming out of a horrid stomach virus.  If you're keeping count, that makes 3 for this pregnancy.  This one is going to win for endurance.  5  1/2 days of hell and promising God I'd do anything if He'd touch me..  I'm cautiously feeling better today than I have in a while.  In Kentucky, Sage complained of not feeling well, but it wasn't terrible. I thought it was the drive, maybe coffee she'd had for the first time.  That would be false because a few days later, I've got it but ten times worse.  Per usual.  Oh well, better me than her or Jaggar for sure.  But NO ONE sick is my preferred option.  We made it home by the grace of God, and Travis has been very helpful in doing what I haven't been able to do.  Like everything.  Baby is very low, causing painful back aches that only added to my misery.  But I'm believing to be back on the mend, making my normally happy pregnant self to be returning soon, I hope.

Here's a few pictures of our final moments in Kentucky.  We had a wonderful trip.  Sage had a really hard time leaving.  It's hard to be far apart from family, especially when if you lived close, you'd be doing all of that stuff all of the time.  On Friday, I was able to see my cousins, Amber and Lindsay, and my aunt and uncle at Mema's house before we left.  We had a nice time visiting.  I probably won't be able to return for Thanksgiving since it will be so close to my due date.  It's too sad to think about right now.  SO, Danny and Rosie brought their new "baby," Brody over so that the kids could see him.  He is that little dust mop of a dog, and it may as well be a newborn.  Too funny to watch Danny and Rosie with that dog.  Jaggar loved him.

 Sage cried when we left here.  There's never a better or easier time to leave, unless it's always tomorrow, I guess.

 This was literally right before we left for the drive home.  Mom and I were carrying out the pack n play, and I guess Sage was out there too.  Well, Jaggar locked the front door, and in a panic, coudn't unlock it.  So he was standing at the front door, watching us and screaming.  Thankfully, the back door was unlocked so that she could get in, but he was traumatized.  Oh well, we made it home, and we're back to the grind.  We had a very fun time and were sad to go.

Pumpkin Picking

My mom's friend Joan has a pumpkin patch that her husband planted in their back yard in June.  He wanted to have lots of kids over to pick them and have a bounce house and hayride to make a day of it.  Unfortunately, this was scheduled for Saturday, and we are unable to make it that day.  But they were nice enough to still let Sage and Jaggar come over on Thursday to pick pumpkins.  I really didn't know what to expect from someone that planted pumpkins in their back yard, but I was really impressed.  They were huge!

 I loved the white pumpkins.  I thought they were so cool, but neither of my kids wanted one.  Carl was nice enough to let me have my own white pumpkin though.  :)  They said it was for the baby.

 Joan is also a type 1 diabetic, and she was so thoughtful in packing treat bags that Sage could have.  She put candy in there that was only 2 carbs.  Sage was thrilled.  It's so frustrating to hear, "Well, it's just a little piece of chocolate."  Sage had one "little piece of chocolate" from church one day, and her sugar was 378.  It's okay.  I don't get it either.  I think it just frustrates me because of how much it sucks, but it was nice to have someone that I didn't have to explain things to.  Here is Sage with the pumpkin she chose.  Jaggar was already off to the playground by that point.

Lorikeet Landing

After we ate lunch and went up the yellow brick road to see a few more animals like the wolf, the jaguar, the snow leopard, etc, we came to lorikeet landing also known as the place where the birds will sit on you.  The last time that we were here over a year ago, Jaggar may have knocked one to the ground.  There were a lot of people in there at the time, so no one noticed except my mom.  So, this time, it was just us and one other family.  They ask you not to pet the birds but just to wait for one to come to you and not to get in the water.  We bought the nectar, which is clear fluid in a little cup, that will draw the birds to you.  We waited a few minutes and one flew to my mom, who was holding the cup at the time.  Then she handed the bird off to Sage.

 Look at that little face.  After that one bird sucked that nectar down, Jaggar did something that I thought was really smart.  He went over to the water, filled the cup with it and said, "Here you go, birds!"  Looked just just like the nectar to him.  He's a smart one.

Fall Break at the Zoo

The kids and I came to Kentucky for Sage's fall break.  This is the first time that we've been here since last Thanksgiving.  That's pretty sad.  I have to admit that I was terrified about coming.  Not that I was afraid to come here.  It was the pharmacy I'd have to bring with me and all the possible scenarios that could possibly take place.  I shouldn't think like that, but it's hard not to when there are things you've never done before.  I'm thankful to say that the trip went fine with all involved.  Both kids did great in the car, and the weather has gone from extreme summer to extreme fall.  I'm glad that I brought jackets and long sleeves.  I had my own personal scare the day after we got here as I had some issues that made me fear early labor.  I was almost ready for church and ended up not being able to go, but thankfully with some rest, tylenol, a heating pad and some advice from Dr Mitch, the symptoms went away.  I hope to never feel that way again until right before the anesthesiologist walks into my hospital room.  

Anyway, we knew that while we were here, we wanted to go to the zoo.  I usually want to take the kids trick-or-treating there when we come in the fall.  However, as of this moment, trick-or-treating isn't high on my list of fun things to do as I'd have to figure up carbs in each piece of candy and give insulin for it.  Sage CAN have anything, but if it has over 15 carbs, (which she only gets those snacks like that 3 times a day), she needs a shot for it.  Just take a look at any piece--PIECE or serving--of candy the next time you're out.  One small pack of Halloween gummies had 45.  Also, the trick or treating at the zoo is kind of...lame.  The lines are horrendous to see whichever character is passing out the candy, and it's (not that it matters now) one piece of nasty candy.  And you don't get to see the animals when you trick or treat.  So, I decided that just visiting the zoo would be more fun.  This was SUCH a good choice.  It wasn't crowded.  It wasn't 105 like the last time that we went (which was over a year ago), and Jaggar, in particular, was over the moon excited to see animals.  He loves to see the cows that we pass on our daily route to Sage's school.  SO...you can imagine his reactions.  He's actually already talking about going back.  Also, they had all the Halloween decorations out, which is 75% of the fun of trick-or-treating there, and they were easily accessed for pictures, unlike when you're there for trick-or-treating.  So I really feel like we got the best of both worlds.  The kids had a blast, and I did too.  It was so fun to watch them.  I will have to divide these up because I have a lot of pictures, and I don't want to leave any out.

 Jaggar would switch the animals he'd want to see next.  When we first got there, it was the "big turtles."  Unfortunately, they were inside where we couldn't see them because the ground was too cold for them.  It didn't seem to bother him at the time (okay, that's a lie...but he got over it somewhat), but later when he woke up from a dead sleep, he was screaming, "I didn't get to see the TURTLES!"  This was the best that we could do.

 The orangutans were great this day, and I got the best photo EVER in a few.  This one was very interested in socializing.

 Jaggar was just amazed; Sage was kind of disgusted with them.  They are kind of ugly, but in a cute kind of way, I think.  I like their mannerisms.  They seem very gentle.

 And then he came right over to the glass where we were..  There is no zoom or editing on this.

 And he posed with my man.  It looks like Jaggar is hugging him.  I sent this to Travis and he said, "Um...is there glass there?"  Ha, hard to tell, but I just love this picture.  Again, Sage refused to be a part of that.  Her loss, in my opinion.
