Special Delivery

Last night, the craziest thing happened. Travis, Sage, and I were watching The Santa Claus 3 when all of a sudden the doorbell rang. It was 8:00 at night, so we had no clue who it could have been. All 3 of us went to the front door, and it was UPS. Now, I order quite a bit online, but I wasn't expecting anything. But the guy didn't want me. Or Travis. He said, "I've got a package for Sage Spence from the North Pole." Oh, her face! Our faces! She looked up at me and grinned. He said, "I need you to sign here. Do you have any idea what it could be?" She signed and grinned from ear to ear. I said, "Sage, what in the world? I didn't order anything!" Oh, but she knew. She whispered, "My elf. My elf." Could it be? The man said, "Do you know what this is? I've heard something moving around inside the box." So we sat down...all of us...right inside the foyer, and well, you just need to see the pictures to believe it.

She signed her name, and that box was icy cold. It WAS straight from the North Pole. Her receipt with signature
We opened it up...and Sage was RIGHT. That crazy elf, Cara, had been shipped this year in her own mini house. We were shocked. The UPS man was shocked. He said, "So THAT'S what was making all that noise."
She has her own bench too.
She even had a passport to travel.
She's been busy this past year.
We just didn't know what to think. It must have been because we put all of our Christmas decorations up, so our house was Christmas-y enough for her to come.
Sage was thrilled.

Reading Cara's story from Santa about coming to visit us...how she had been watching Sage all year and had asked Santa if she could come and play again during this Christmas season. My favorite part is when Santa said that he didn't want to part with her, but God gave His Son on Christmas Day, a gift more precious than any in his sleigh. So Cara could come to show that Christmas is about Jesus, giving, love and fun.
Priceless.
Ah...and THEN we sprinkled the magic snow on her, left out crackers and water for her, and went to bed....and that's when the trouble started. Sage was up bright and early to see what she had done. THIS is what we found.
That crazy elf. Always up to mischief. I asked Sage if we could ship her back. This would be Cara's 3rd visit to us at Christmastime, by the way. She painted my floor last year too.
Very excited.
She wanted so much to taker her to school. She's having Christmas pictures with Santa today, so she was going to tell him that her elf did make it safely. :) Let the season and fun begin.

Julie, this is absolutely the best gift I have ever seen for Christmas! How exciting!! I remember seeing pictures of Cara's escapades at your home last year, and all I can say is you are definitely 'Mother of the Year'! Also enjoyed the pics and updates from Thanksgiving. Looks as though you all had a great holiday.
