Random Acts of Kindness

Today isn't over yet, thank God, because nothing that I planned today turned out how I'd planned it. I guess part of it was my fault for not being more specific in my plans. As a girl, I can sometimes think that people know what I MEAN without saying it, and that's just not true. Besides, no one did anything WRONG. It's just things didn't work out for whatever reason(s). Anyway, after sulking, we all got over it and made new plans. Travis took the kids and got them something to eat, and I went into the portholes of hell, AKA Walmart, 2 weeks before Christmas. Two very nice things happened here that made it worth the trip for me.

1. I ran into and got to hug the lovely Donna Byrd. She's down here visiting her son, and it was so good to see her, even though we both "keep up" with each other on facebook, as we both reminded each other in the store today.

2. As I was checking out, the cashier didn't say much until I was paying, and she said, "I can't stand people like you: people with perfect skin." I think my jaw dropped and then I laughed because, as I've said, my skin is part of my paranoia lately. I said, "Why thank you, but it's been pretty awful since I had my son." She said, "Well, it looks radiant." I could have cried.

As I'd let silly things drag me down all day, these 2 things brightened my day. Now remembering how good that made me feel, I get to pay it forward. :)
