Once Thanksgiving ended, we started to see them arrive. They were at dance. We saw them out and about with other kids: elves. And ours were not here yet. Sage was good until Thanksgiving. Then it was..."Um hey where are they?" Well, usually we are out of town Thanksgiving weekend, so I didn't feel like they were late. I know that some elves come on a certain day. We never know exactly when Cara and Mickey show up, but it's after Thanksgiving. So Sage started praying at night, "God, please let my elves come." God wasn't working quickly enough for her, so last Friday morning when I went to wake her up for school, she was already awake and writing something at her table. Here's what it was:
I told her that I would mail it that morning straight to the North Pole. When I picked her up, she asked if I had and I told her yes. She just knew that they'd be there the next day, which was Saturday. So Travis was out of town. The kids had had their baths, and the doorbell rang. Sage didn't hesitate. She said, "It's the ELVES!" Here is what happened next. Sage was thrilled. She KNEW that her letter worked. And fast too. Jaggar....not so much. I have never laughed so hard at him. When the fedex man left, he wouldn't have anything to do with his elf. Sage was so excited explaining to him how wonderful they were and the fun they'd have. She said they do crazy things in the night and eat crackers. He wasn't having it. "They will NOT eat," he said. And to prove his point, he went and got a back of carrots, took one out, put it to his elf's mouth and said, "SEE?! He not gonna eat!" I was almost crying with laughter. I think he was freaked out at the idea of them moving at night. He didn't want anything to do with that. It scared him. So I was trying to get a picture of the 2 of them with their elves, and this is what I got. I know this needs to be sent in to the Ellen Show.
Sage was thrilled. She and Jaggar played with them in my room for a while, and she explained some things to him about the elves...and he got somewhat better. But he continually said, "There's nothing to be scared of?" He has warmed up a lot, but EVERY now and then, like this morning, he says, "I don't like my elf. Send him back to Santa." You just never know.
They haven't been here long, but they are definitely making their mark. Tis the season. It's really the best thing about Christmas for Sage, especially. Jaggar? Not so much.
But THIS morning? HUGE hit. Look what they did to our dogs. Both kids got a kick out of this.
Oh Chanel
I think Mayer looks good as an elf.
They just loved this.
This totally disturbed Jaggar after a few minutes. At first, they both seemed to love it...and then? It was, "He ate all my gum!" FYI, we haven't had gum for that in prob a year. I buy it, and they (meaning him) eat it in like 2 weeks. I'll try to keep as updated as I can on their crazy antics because I know it's a favorite topic on here. It's one of my favorites, too.
