Baby Room Reveal

Though I don't feel it's completely finished, the baby's room is as finished as it's going to be for now.  We worked really hard for quite a while, and I'm so pleased with how it turned out.  I definitely didn't want a traditional "bedding set."  It's no secret that I love bright colors, and I wanted my main accents to be orange and turquoise.  Boys bedding sets are always so blah.  Dull reds, navys and browns.  Yawn.  So I found one piece I loved, a crib sheet from Target with the colors I wanted, and I just went from there.  I did a lot of Etsy, where sellers were wonderful in customizing things for me with colors I'd send them.

I love this alphabet wall.  There was a set I loved that if you google wall alphabet, it will come up.  It was $200, and they said wait time was almost 12 weeks.  But buyers were saying it was way past that when they ordered and still had received it.  So, I was like um no way.  So I ordered an unfinished set of different fonts off of ebay.  And Travis painted them all.  I think that they turned out wonderfully.  Now HANGING them?  I thought we may kill each other.  Each letter had 2 holes on the back for nails.  It was seriously like hanging up lights with Clark Griswald.  Travis was mad as a hornet.  It was 10:00 one night, and he'd hit a stud or go straight through the wall. Or I wouldn't like the placement.  He was saying some not nice words.  Saying he couldn't wait for HIS stuff to be done.  But then it was done and we shed tears of joy admiring our work.  Right.  I think I was still pretty mad at how he acted and went to bed.
The bed was Sage's and then Jaggar's.  It was white when we bought it, and he painted it black for Jaggar.  At first I thought I'd paint Jaggar's old changing table turquoise, but then that changed to the bed being painted.  Travis brought a "turquoise" home, and it was like hunter green to me.  I hated it.  So we just changed it all together to orange.  Although the COLOR orange was iffy too.  What I mean and what I say are different, he says.  So he took the crib blanket, and they literally shot that orange to match it to the bed.  And it worked.  However, it did take 3-4 coats, and it looked like mustard at first.  Travis finally told me to get out.  He said out of all the people he's worked for that I am in the top five of worst, hardest to please, demanding customers.  And if I ever wanted anything else done, I could hire someone.  I was so surprised.  I mean, I didn't even have a speech prepared.  The wall shelves are from Ikea.  Even THOSE were an issue.  He hung them too high.  And to fix them was a nightmare for him to fix for some reason. 50 holes later, and more screws and patching and repainting, they were right.  But wow.
The cubicle is from Ikea as well as that orange lamp that I love.  It actually puts off a LOT of light.  It's so pretty.  The sequence hatching chick art is something I had bought when I was pregnant with Jaggar but never used, but it turned out to work perfectly for this room.  I still need something on that wall, but I'm not sure yet.  Maybe a monogram or that name everyone is asking/harassing me about?  You've got hours left to hear it.  :)
This is my favorite part.  It turned out exactly how I hoped it would.  I love Chevron, but you can't just buy Chevron curtains.  Not without paying way more than you should.  So the changing pad cover is from the same lady who made the blanket.  I ordered the fabric off of etsy, and Mom and Mema made the curtains.  I love them.  It was harder than I'd ever imagined because that fabric is so busy that it makes it hard to line up, but they did a great job.  Did them the same weekend they received them and mailed them right back to me so I could feel like the room was progressing, which it wasn't at the time.  It took them 6 hours.  The quad giraffe pictures are also from an etsy seller, and she matched the blue to the curtains.  I love them.  And the lamp is one I had in our guest room from Pier 1 kids when our guest room was the color of what our kitchen is now.  Confusing?  Dresser/changing table is from ikea.  If you google nurseries, this is pretty much what every nursery has in it these days, and I can see why.  It's huge, not very expensive and honestly well made.  And it looks great.  Travis said it was the easiest thing he's ever put together, which was shocking since it was in two huge flat boxes.  That was one project that was without fighting.  :)  This pic isn't great with my phone because the way the light was coming in.  It's way better in person.
And here's just a collage I put together.  You can see the sheet that I started with and another pic with my favorite verse that I got from etsy as well.  In just a few days, there will be a baby in here when I return from the hospital.  And the room will prob never be this clean again!
