One of RMC's newer changes (since I'd had Jaggar) with their "baby friendly" hospital status is that after the baby is born, they place the baby skin to skin with the mother for one hour. This is also called kangaroo care, I believe. I was thrilled with this. He was all mine for 9 months. Even though I was starting to get uncomfortable, part of me mourned for the fact that he wouldn't be just mine anymore. Mine to feel kick, roll, hiccup. And with my others, it seemed the moment they were born, they were being passed around. They say this skin to skin contact helps the baby bond immediately to the mother. They said it regulates blood sugars, lets him take in ME and just is comforting to them. And I believe that because he calmed down immediately when they put him on me. I did, too. I could have laid like that for way more than an hour.
I know I have another flip book of pic, but this was my favorite moment.
Such a piece of heaven
One of my favorites. Chrissie did well.
And I had to laugh at these. MEANWHILE...
I wonder if every labor and delivery is like this.
Bubbles in his mouth
Had to laugh at this, too. Though I've gotta say, I totally appreciate his efforts. I've known girls that had doctors that were ready to get out of there and still suffer for it.
I wrongly compare any doctor to him, and so I usually leave disappointed. He is great and I'm glad I can call him anytime I'm sick now.
Angel
Looks like he's looking right at the camera. Sure sign of a child of mine
His little head was a little misshapen. It's rough being born.
Family.
So happy
And sleepy
