Sickness

9 times out of 10, if a school aged child wakes up on a school day an hour before they usually have to be woken up, it's not a good sign. So was the case this morning. Call it mother's instinct, but the tiny bit of light creeping through the cracks of my bedroom door was an instant wake up for me. It took me a minute to realize if I was dreaming or not, but then I realized that Sage was up. And she wasn't just up, but she was throwing up. OH. NO. In my opinion and experience, throwing up is the absolute worst thing in the case of common viruses. I took all the Christmas decorations down with the flu. I took Jaggar to the doctor with an ear infection of my own. I've sang (unknowingly) with strep throat. But vomiting? Down for the count. I felt so sorry for Sage. When I told her that she was staying home, she was immediately upset that she was going to miss the pep rally that she'd get to go to for getting all S's in conduct. I can still vividly remember when my mom sent me to school (in first grade, as well) when my stomach was queasy. You know what happened? I threw up all over the reading group. Still traumatized by that, by the way, mom. And they probably are, too. Anyway, it's been a constant effort to keep Jaggar away. What's worse than a 1st grader throwing up is a 2 year old throwing up, who can't figure out what to do. Sage has been such a big girl and has made it to the bathroom every time on her own. I made her a pallet on my floor, and she's watched the Smurfs multiple times. I don't know what it is about that movie that both of my kids just love. It's been hours since the last time that she's thrown up. She's eaten and seems to be feeling well, but I'm not taking too many chances. Here's to believing this is the end.

Early this morning
Just a few minutes ago. He couldn't stand it anymore after being downstairs all morning. I thought it'd be fine as long as he laid on the opposite end.

Hope Sage is over the worst of it, and that you and Jaggar don't get it. :-/
