Sage's Birthday

We survived Sage's birthday weekend! What a busy but fun time it was. I was absolutely exhausted today and slept for hours when we got home from church, but birthdays are big deals, right? Sage had a wonderful birthday. Her actual birthday was Friday, and when she woke up, her room was filled with balloons. How nice of us, right? Only we didn't do that!

Just look who dropped in for the weekend! That's right. Cara and Mickey came for Sage's birthday and left a note saying they could stay through the weekend. And they filled her room with balloons that are STILL in the air. Sage said their magic must have done that because she's never had balloons that lasted more than one day. To say that she was thrilled that her elves were here would be an understatement. She was more excited about their drop in than the fact that it was her birthday, I think.
And Rudolph came, too. This is how they were: in the middle of her floor covered in "snow" with "Alvin and the Chipmunks, the Squeakquel" underneath all of it.
We never have a lot of time on school mornings, but I had to have some pictures of my brand new 7 year old.

She got this out to show she is NOT six anymore. Her idea. She was pointing at it and shaking her head 'no,' though that isn't portrayed in still photography.

Travis had a shoot in Birmingham that day and wouldn't see Sage again until Saturday, so she unwrapped a few presents from us before she left for school. Jaggar was still asleep. Mom and Mema came into town for Sage's birthday, so he was worn out from the day we picked them up.
This was a dress that she had been asking for at Target for a few weeks.
A new outfit for her American Girl dolls
A new board game
She is a daddy's girl...sweet pic

I wasn't getting her cake until Saturday because her party was then, so I picked up some cupcakes...because you have to have SOMETHING on your actual birthday. (I'm probably going to have to join weight watchers after this weekend by the way.)
After her day at school (where she got to be the leader ALL day), Mom, Mema, Jaggar and I all took her out to dinner. She wanted Fuji, of course...but at the last minute, we decided to go to Yume.
It did make for a pretty picture on the outside. Can you believe we haven't been here since the summer? If you haven't been and you're local, go check it. It's REALLY good.
Although...the one thing she wanted most was salmon eggs (yes, she does love them...I love sushi and even that is too much for me. It tastes like I'm eating fish eggs...they pop in your mouth...ACK!) But they didn't have them. I just assumed (when will I EVER learn that doesn't work) that they'd have them. It turned out okay. I ordered her a Shirley Temple to make up for it.
We actually sat on the Hibachi side. I'm not normally a fan of this, but the birthday girl asked for it, so that's what we did. That was an actual water wall behind us. Between that and the chef flame throwing in front of us, Jaggar was very content, which is not the norm when we go out to eat. SO...I asked the waitress if they did happy birthdays. Did they?! Watch THIS. I thought that this was so fun...and I'm so sorry that my video is terrible. Travis hasn't even seen this yet because I'm pretty sure he'd give me down the road about the camera work.
And look what they gave her! That is all made out of fruit. They said he usually makes a pineapple dragon, but he'd just learned how to do this that day. Isn't it beautiful? And the fruit was amazing, too.
When we got home, it was time for some more presents. Mom and Mema just decided to give her what they got her then. Jaggar also gave his present to Sage: a papa smurf set...or as Jaggar calls him "Papaw Smurf."
From Mema: littlest pet shop set. WHY I have no pics of Mom and Mema with Sage on her birthday, I do not know...other than the fact that I apparently suck.
Mom found a lady months ago who makes clothes for American Girl dolls. My mother had to check it out first to make sure that they were up to par, and they really were. There is a leopard fur coat with a matching hat, and it's lined in satin. Sage thought this was awesome. She immediately put that, the pretty red dress, tights and glittery shoes on Julie.
Fun day for Miss Sage, for sure. She had a great birthday, and she was REALLY looking forward to her party the next day.
