Ever since the summer that Jaggar was born, I have always enrolled Sage in the summer reading program at the library. It started as a way to get her involved in things outside of the shock that a new baby caused all of us. I started at the Anniston library because their schedule for story time suited us more, but as the years have gone by, I really like their program, so we've continued there rather than Oxford.
This year, they have a new children's director that I met when I enrolled BOTH kids for summer reading last Friday. She is young and very enthusiastic about her job, and they let Jaggar enroll for reading, too. The ladies before were very old, and though they were sweet, they were also tired, I think. The children's room looked great. They had a lizard and a turtle that Jaggar couldn't get enough of, and all the workers were calling my children by their first name before we left. (And they took the turtle out for them to pet since Jaggar was pretty much about to do it himself.) I appreciate things like that. Whatever your job is, be passionate about it. It makes a huge difference.
So after we'd chosen our books for that week, Ms Kim, the director, told us that they were having a musical slumber party that afternoon at 4pm. They were bringing some girls in from Nashville that were going to sing and dance. The kids should wear their pj's and bring their favorite stuffed animal. Sage really wanted to go, so we went home and took naps. Jaggar was still sleeping, and even though I was reluctant to wake him so that we could go, I did it anyway. It meant a lot to Sage that we went. Jaggar actually woke up okay (he has a hard time waking up...happy), and I'm so glad because HE, especially, LOVED it.
I think that Sage liked it too, but she's just not going to let her inhibitions go in front of anyone. Jaggar has no inhibitions. I was CRACKING UP at him. Luckily, for you all, I have video. The polar bear made his/her appearance shortly after we got there.
Here they are dancing with the polar bear. Their music wasn't very loud, so it's hard to hear. But they are doing the chicken dance here.

And I thought Jaggar was going to die when she started singing, "I wanna dance with somebody"....or something like it. Ha..."I wanna dream with somebody....with somebody who dreams big." Ha, I know my kids were thinking, "That's so wrong." We don't censor legends around here. ;)
Then Jaggar decided that he was going to get up close and personal. He was pretty much in love with that girl in the green tutu. He handed her his Rudolph. When it was over, he followed her around everywhere. I think that he thought that he'd just leave with her. I guess a girl in a green tutu that (tries to) sing Whitney Houston is the way to his heart. Sage, who was SO timid through the whole thing, was cracking up at him. At first, I wanted her to go get him, but he wasn't doing anything wrong. He was SO into it. Check him out. This video is hilarious. He gave it everything he had.
Right after their Kiss rendition, they did one last cool down song where they "went to sleep," and Jaggar didn't hesitate to join in. It's so funny how different both of my children are. Polar opposites really. Sage has ALWAYS been slow to let loose in front of anyone other than us, but Jaggar doesn't think twice about it. I think we're still in shock at him on a regular basis.
