Celebrating Chrissie

Chrissie's birthday was last Thursday, April 5th, and while we could never figure out exactly how old she turned, we decided we were long overdue for a girls' night out. We seriously haven't had a real conversation or a night to ourselves since I don't even remember. We used to do this pretty regularly, but with 6 kids between us and quite a few miles, we let it slip. We had SO much fun eating and drinking our way around 5 points in Birmingham.

We even got dressed up for the occasion--another thing we've let slip! We used to have closets full of clothes for nights out, but they were collecting dust so we got rid of them. Dressing up alone was refreshing.
And we made Sean take a million pictures before we left. Out of all of those, these 2 were the only ones we thought were okay, and neither of us were thrilled about them. We felt so much better in the mirror. ;) Oh well, we are our own worst critics, I suppose.
But it didn't matter because the night was ours--free from husbands and children. Not that we don't love them all dearly, but everyone needs some time with their best friend! We laughed till we cried and caught up on a lot too.
At the bar in Highland's bar and grill (We had appetizers and drinks here and went to Hot N Hot after that.)
However, we definitely should have stayed at the Highland's. Hot N Hot was...ehh. But we were entertained by our waiter's fake British accent and conversation without interruption. This was what I got: some type of ravioli that was okay but not amazing. And Chrissie got her meal for free because her fish had the consistency of chicken. But that also got us free dessert, but we were too full to take more than a few bites. We stayed out late and were so tired the next day, but it was well worth it. Happy Birthday, dear friend! Love you lots.
