Summer Fun

It's only Sage's second day of summer break, but I just can't tell you how good it is to have her home. Truth be told, I was a little nervous adjusting to a new schedule again. Sage loved school, but we're all enjoying being HOME so much! The kids are playing great together. They can make a mess like you've never seen in a matter of minutes, but they're only young once, right?

Today was a fun day. I made French toast this morning for the first time, and I think it turned out...well, awesome. Then I took the kids to story time at the library, and they had storytellers that told stories and painted faces. Sage was all over that. She wouldn't volunteer to go up during the stories, but at the end, they painted everyone's face that didn't get called up during the stories. I managed Jaggar, who was not as into the story, but he was good considering he's 2 and that the girl read for 45 minutes. Not that I was keeping track or anything.

Sage with her French Toast

She told the girl that she wanted a pink butterfly.

Sage was not at all disappointed. How cute is she?

Cute boy: We opted to NOT get his face painted.

She was very proud of her butterfly.

Green Thumbs

Travis made something happen for Sage this past Saturday that she's wanted to do for a really long time: plant a garden. She has such a sweet heart. She has been saying that she wanted to plant a garden and grow food to give to people that don't have any and also to our neighbors. I really hope that their efforts are successful and that something grows so she can act on her kindness.

It was so hot on Saturday. Travis and Sage were both a sweaty mess. She'd ask Travis, "Do you mind if I get a drink of water?" She didn't want him doing all of the work. ;)
How cute are they?
They got tomatoes, watermelon, peppers, cucumbers, squash...you name it, it's in there.
Jaggar ventured out for a second before he realized that the dirt got in his shoes and on his hands. Then he'd come over to me and say, "Eeeew!" He can't STAND for anything to be on his hands or feet. He is like me in many ways.
Their finished product! Travis has since put bricks around it, and it looks even nicer.

Memorial Day

And our first official day of summer vacation: It was glorious, in spite of what Jaggar's face tells you here. He just kind of fell apart after 4:00. ;)

Guilty pleasure

Faces II

Just a few months shy of two years ago, Travis took some pictures that I posted in a blog called, "Faces." Remember? I have several of those pictures in 16x20s on my bedroom wall. Well, Jaggar doesn't look so much like that anymore, so I asked him to take some updated ones so that I can replace a few older ones with ones that are more current. I think they turned out really cute.

Now I just have to choose which ones!

Just When I Thought...

that all the tears were done, Mrs. Brooks had put this in Sage's bag on her last day of kindergarten. Maximize it so that you can see how special that is. Thank you, God, for putting such a caring person in Sage's life. May she always continue to have people like this influencing her.

Celebrating Sage

Since Sage graduated kindergarten yesterday, it was her day. That and because we like all reasons to celebrate. So that night, she chose to go to Fuji. I have raised her right, I tell ya. Unfortunately, for her, her stomach hurt and she didn't get her usual favorite: salmon eggs. She did enjoy some edamame through tears, but then Travis said the magic words, "I was going to take you to play, but if your stomach hurts..." I don't think she was faking because she loves Fuji, but this was certainly an instant cure. So after our delicious food, we headed to the mall to THE PLAY PLACE. We've only been there that one other time a few months back. This time, we had the place to ourselves. It was WONDERFUL.

Sage and I at Fuji before her stomachache
Let the playing begin! Aren't they so cute???
The girl working said the magic words, "You guys (Travis and I) can get in, too, if you want." Don't tell us that and not expect us to be all over that. She MAY have regretted that decision.
Because I will sure enough revert back to age 10...and clearly forget I have small children to watch.
He will too.

That thing had some bounce!
My children are born with love for a ball. Sage was the same way. We have them everywhere at home, but it's never enough.
Their slides were fast!
Not too fast for either of them though
They are cute beyond words.

He has no fear.
She had so much fun.

Yep, I'm going to...
Ha! Look at Sage's face in the top left corner. She's probably thinking something like, "I've got the coolest parents EVER." ;)

That face is why we play!
And this little boy, too. What a fun night! Congrats, again, to Sage! We also had a little bit of this on the way home.
