Mother's Day 2009

On Mother's Day morning, I was about to walk out the door for church, and Sage had slept in due to her long day the day before. Travis did wake her before I left, which she wasn't too happy about, but once she realized she could give me her gifts, she woke up much better. She was so excited to give me her things. Travis had asked me what I was expecting for Mother's Day, and I told him that Sage was old enough to have her own ideas, there was nothing I needed, so let her do something for me that makes her feel special.

He took her out on Saturday, and he said that she said, "I want to do a ca-raft. A ca-raft." He said, "What?" A CRAFT. So he took her to Hobby Lobby, and she knew exactly what she wanted. She chose a birdhouse because "mommy never had a birdhouse," which is true. She also chose a treasure box for me to put my jewelry in and a picture frame. All of these were unfinished, so they bought paint and went to the lake to paint them. I was very impressed with her creativity. You could tell that she was too. She was so excited, AND she kept it a secret.

Waiting on Sage to get her things. I had a foot or something in my ribs at the time. This is blurry, but I thought she was so cute bringing the bag in.

Isn't that a cute birdhouse?
Treasure box. Let me note here that she made one for herself as well. It's a smaller box, and she said, "I got this for myself so I can put my wedding rings in it when I get married." It's always nice to think ahead.

Picture frame.
I love you, Sage. I am so glad to be your mommy!

She did!
I think she had a LITTLE help. She painted something for the baby, but she's decided she's keeping it stating: "I didn't know it would be so cute."
