Jaggar Lately

The days of being able to give something to Sage and not give something of equal value to Jaggar are long gone. She got a Hello Kitty juice bottle the other day, so he had to have one, too. Truth be told, he WOULD have taken Hello Kitty, but we chose Spiderman for him. He was so pleased to drink from this cup, even though he STILL doesn't care for juice. At all.

He is saying pretty much everything these days: "STOP!" "Gum." "Piece" (or please, not sure about this one. He always says it after "gum.") 'Side, for "outside." "I get it." "Uh oh," for when he drops, or more appropriately, throws something to the ground. "Night night." "MO!" (more) "I want out," when he's in his high chair. "CHEESE!" for pictures. "Uh babies." The sound "uh" is still generally before everything he says. In the past day or so, he saw Mickey Mouse on Disney and called him "Mick." Travis thought that this was appropriate: 'Mick Jaggar.'

HE LOVES to brush his teeth, and he has a word for toothbrush that he says consistently, but it's kind of similar to how he pronounces "Wiggles." If you heard that, then you know it sounds nothing like the actual word. He is such a funny boy, and he brings us so much joy. This day last year, he was in surgery for a very infected ear. I'm glad that THIS year, I have a very healthy, active boy watching cartoons and saying, "I want GUUUM," as I write this. :)

A Moment of Being Still

Today is the first day that I have uploaded pictures from my camera in weeks. Even though I took these several weeks ago, they were too cute not to post. This is the night that we were going to Brian and Ramey's recording. Right before we left, Jaggar was actually being very still. I looked to see what he was doing, and he was drawing/writing in one of Sage's "journals." I thought that he was so cute laying down like a big boy and drawing.
Handsome

He's either taking a moment to watch The Wiggles or "Babies."

Dear, Tooth Fairy

I thought that I'd update on the tooth fairy visit. Sage decided that she wanted to write her a letter weeks ago before the tooth was even out. Here it is (I'm writing it how you would read it). It says, "Love Sage (at the top, followed by) Dear Tooth fairy, I want you to not get my tooth! And bring me a prize." Ha! Read that and then look at her letter, and I promise you will smile. She's working so hard to read and sound words out. She does a pretty good job. Oh, we couldn't just leave a letter, though. We left the following in a ziplock bag: the letter, the tooth, money (a penny), a gumball, and a piece of dental floss--ALL her idea. :) And HERE is what Sage bought with the money that the tooth fairy brought her. I'm amazed at how good she is at this because I didn't teach her, though I was pretty darn good at this back in the day.

Another One Bites the Dust

Sage's other front bottom tooth has been loose for weeks now. It was so loose, in fact, that at times it was sideways. Rather than endure another academy award winning performance for best dramatic actress from Sage, we just decided to let her deal with it. Today, as she came out to the car, she wouldn't open her mouth all the way and said, "I've got a surprise for you. What do you think it is?" I thought that she had candy in her mouth. I said, "Well, I don't know." She said, "Are you ready?" I was. She proudly pulled out this bag--her tooth! She'd pulled it out HERSELF at school, and "it didn't even hurt," she said. WOW! I was so shocked but proud of her! She said that all of the other kids just wanted to look at it. That is, they wanted to look at it after it was found. Apparently, she dropped it on the floor, and the teacher had to search for it because it blended in with the white floor. She is, rightfully, proud and excited to leave this for the tooth fairy tonight. :)

Like Mother, Like Daughter

A week or so ago, we had a little dance party in our bathroom. You know how my kids like dancing on the side of the bathtub. After a few songs, I was tired and ready for American Idol, so I left. When I looked back at my phone, I saw this and busted out laughing. My little Sage takes her dancing VERY seriously. Jennifer told me that she reminds her of me backstage. I tend to dance on the stage right behind the curtain like every Sunday during the countdown. Gets me ready to worship. And it makes Jennifer and Steve laugh. I've debated whether or not to put this on here for no reason other than the song lyrics, but it's a fun song to dance to, apparently. So if you get offended over everything, don't watch. But if you want to see Sage in her finest, click here. :)

Another Museum Trip

Travis had to work today, so I thought that the kids and I would venture to the museum on this beautiful day. This was my first trip there by myself with Jaggar being as mobile as he is now. He did pretty well. Every time we'd enter a new room, he'd say, "WOW!" It was so funny. We all had a nice time. Since I didn't have another adult for Jaggar reinforcement, my pictures (the ones I even dared to take) are pretty close to terrible. I should've taken my real camera. Live and learn. :)

Jaggar is digging up fossils with other kids. Sage would NEVER do this. She is much more timid. He even got up on the same stool as one of the little girls, forcing her to get on a different one. He doesn't mind.

After Jaggar made friends, Sage decided to join in.

This was a little earthquake simulator that freaked him out at first. A few minutes later, and he was a pro.

Pushing random buttons

Both of them on the earthquake simulator. Watch them here.

That crazy looking fish is apparently in some Alabama rivers. This is more proof why I don't prefer to swim in water with other living creatures besides people.

Of course!

Sage said that this part was "too birdlike" and that she didn't care "for the birdness of it all."

Pretty butterflies.

And of course, chocolate!

Makes a Mother Proud

Sage made this at church last week. Travis was thrilled. :) She does love HEARTS.

Mr. Cool

Last Saturday, Sage attended a birthday party of a friend of her's, and it was a pool party. Macie's mom sent a goody bag home for Jaggar as well, and he tried on the sunglasses that were in the bag today. He thought that he was pretty cool.

More Milk, More Cows

As I said a few posts back, I made a relatively new discovery of Wright's Dairy and their amazing milk...and ice cream, beef jerky, pumpkin butter spread, cheese...all that good stuff. The milk is a regular staple in our house now, and I've found that if I buy 2 gallons at a time, it will last us just over a week. That's Jaggar doing that damage all on his own too, by the way. It's not exactly up the street, so if we can go on a pretty Saturday, that works out better for us. Last week when we came, it was rainy, so I just ran inside and got what I needed and left. Sage didn't get to see the baby cows that time, but she did this week. And wow, they were in rare form today. Here is what they were doing when we first walked in. I can't say that I've seen a cow in this good of shape. Jaggar thought it was HILARIOUS, and so did the rest of us. And THEN they started to talk. Check it out here. Travis said he (or she?) was saying, "Mama." We had a nice trip out there. When we started to leave, Jaggar said, "Nooo!" He loves the cows.

There were a lot more calves in here this time, too. Last time that I brought Jaggar in here, there were only 3 or 4.

She was slightly afraid of the cows, unlike Mister, who appears to be trying to get in there with the cows in this picture.

He got a kiss. :) Don't think we didn't scrub those hands later.

She wasn't afraid of this cow though.

Donut Saturday

Last night, we had dinner at Fuji and it was the best decision I'd made in a while. :) I hadn't been there in a few weeks, so it was so good. Strangely enough, on our way out, the thought of having LaMar's Donuts for breakfast the next day (today) sounded like a good idea. It was so strange because I can't say that that thought has EVER popped into my mind. Less than 5 minutes later, Sage goes, "Can we go to LaMar's tomorrow?" Huh?! First of all, I've never even been to LaMar's, so I had no clue how she knew what it was.

Back when I first moved here, the church we went to at the time had them occasionally, so I said, "How do you know about that place?" Apparently, the mom that takes her to dance on Thursdays takes them there sometimes, and Sage had tried "Donut MOLES." Yes! Have you heard of them? You may know them as donut holes. They're similar to that. She said that they were SO good. So this morning, Travis took the kids to "get some donuts." Some. I'm thinking that he's going to get some "donut moles" for the kids and possibly 2 or 3 regular donuts. Then I remembered that I sent Travis. When they got back, I came downstairs to THIS:

1 dozen donuts (can I say that I have a problem writing "donuts" like this instead of "doughnuts?")

But clearly, that's how THEY spell it, so for the purpose of this blog, I conformed.

Bubs eating his donut mole.

She immediately brought the bag to me to show me how amazing a donut mole really is. Of course, she didn't want anyone to like them too much because she fussed at Jaggar for eating too many of them. (Note: he had 2.)

I asked, "Was it really necessary to get 12?" He said, "You don't send someone that likes food as much as I do into a donut shop to get one donut." Note taken.

No complaints here though! Happy kids=happy mom!

Never Gets Old

Jaggar is still keepin' it real with the infant seat. Why should we put it away when we still get so much use out of it?
