More Milk, More Cows

As I said a few posts back, I made a relatively new discovery of Wright's Dairy and their amazing milk...and ice cream, beef jerky, pumpkin butter spread, cheese...all that good stuff. The milk is a regular staple in our house now, and I've found that if I buy 2 gallons at a time, it will last us just over a week. That's Jaggar doing that damage all on his own too, by the way. It's not exactly up the street, so if we can go on a pretty Saturday, that works out better for us. Last week when we came, it was rainy, so I just ran inside and got what I needed and left. Sage didn't get to see the baby cows that time, but she did this week. And wow, they were in rare form today. Here is what they were doing when we first walked in. I can't say that I've seen a cow in this good of shape. Jaggar thought it was HILARIOUS, and so did the rest of us. And THEN they started to talk. Check it out here. Travis said he (or she?) was saying, "Mama." We had a nice trip out there. When we started to leave, Jaggar said, "Nooo!" He loves the cows.

There were a lot more calves in here this time, too. Last time that I brought Jaggar in here, there were only 3 or 4.

She was slightly afraid of the cows, unlike Mister, who appears to be trying to get in there with the cows in this picture.

He got a kiss. :) Don't think we didn't scrub those hands later.

She wasn't afraid of this cow though.

Donut Saturday

Last night, we had dinner at Fuji and it was the best decision I'd made in a while. :) I hadn't been there in a few weeks, so it was so good. Strangely enough, on our way out, the thought of having LaMar's Donuts for breakfast the next day (today) sounded like a good idea. It was so strange because I can't say that that thought has EVER popped into my mind. Less than 5 minutes later, Sage goes, "Can we go to LaMar's tomorrow?" Huh?! First of all, I've never even been to LaMar's, so I had no clue how she knew what it was.

Back when I first moved here, the church we went to at the time had them occasionally, so I said, "How do you know about that place?" Apparently, the mom that takes her to dance on Thursdays takes them there sometimes, and Sage had tried "Donut MOLES." Yes! Have you heard of them? You may know them as donut holes. They're similar to that. She said that they were SO good. So this morning, Travis took the kids to "get some donuts." Some. I'm thinking that he's going to get some "donut moles" for the kids and possibly 2 or 3 regular donuts. Then I remembered that I sent Travis. When they got back, I came downstairs to THIS:

1 dozen donuts (can I say that I have a problem writing "donuts" like this instead of "doughnuts?")

But clearly, that's how THEY spell it, so for the purpose of this blog, I conformed.

Bubs eating his donut mole.

She immediately brought the bag to me to show me how amazing a donut mole really is. Of course, she didn't want anyone to like them too much because she fussed at Jaggar for eating too many of them. (Note: he had 2.)

I asked, "Was it really necessary to get 12?" He said, "You don't send someone that likes food as much as I do into a donut shop to get one donut." Note taken.

No complaints here though! Happy kids=happy mom!

Never Gets Old

Jaggar is still keepin' it real with the infant seat. Why should we put it away when we still get so much use out of it?

Sage's dance pictures are already back. I couldn't believe how fast that was. I think that they turned out super cute!

Childlike Faith

Last night, Sage, Travis and I were recording her on my phone just having a good time. She ranged from "teaching," to interviewing, to a room tour. Then she decided that she wanted to "tell the people" how we pray. I sing a special song to the kids nightly that's also a prayer, and that's basically what we planned to do in this particular video clip.

But then she did something that surprised us all, and that was to request to pray for Linda out loud and on camera. I know that Sage prays, but she's pretty reserved in front of us. She publicly prayed a prayer that was so moving and full of faith that Travis was teary. We believe God heard and will answer her prayer! I am so thankful that we have this on video. I sent it to Linda this morning. Watch it here. She may be getting phone calls for prayer requests after this.

"Mama's" Boy

When I was pregnant with Jaggar and so unsure of having a boy, the one thing that everyone told me was, "Oh, but BOYS LOVE their MAMAS." If I heard it once, I heard it 1000 times. And they were SO right... They're right in the fact that for a few weeks now, Jaggar has started referring to Travis (his favorite person) as "Mama." When I go get him in the mornings, the first thing he does is point towards his door and say, "Iwant MAMA. Iwant MAMA. Mama." He's called Travis "Daddy" since he was like 4 months old, so I know he's more than capable of saying it. So why the sudden switch? You've got me. I'm not sure if I could buy a child that would favor me over that Daddy, but that's okay. He is pretty great. Maybe I should be nicer to the dogs, so they'll like me more. ;)

Here's a video of the proof. Jaggar even saw it just now and said, "Mama!" Excuse the blurriness of it. I couldn't figure out why until Travis flipped it over and saw food caked on it. Jaggar had been trying to take a picture earlier.

Phone Conversation

Jaggar loves to talk on the phone, and that is whether someone is on the other end or not. It is SO funny to hear him babbling anyway, and it makes you wonder what in the world he's actually saying. In this case, he's actually talking to my mom. Sage is playing a game on Travis's ipod (a car racing game), and you can hear him say, "Cars," to mom, but that's about all you can make out in the convo until the end of it. I think he's so cute.

All Day, Everyday

I took this video today of a pretty typical moment in our house. I've said before that Jaggar is obsessed with gum. I love gum, too, but not like this.

Dance Pictures

Sage had her dance pictures made for this year on Friday. I'm always so relieved when this is over because there's a lot to do to get it together. Sadly, one day all too soon, she won't need my help with her hair, makeup and changing, so I should be thankful she's still somewhat small. Her costumes are very bright this year. She also had a gymnastics picture taken, which she has talked about since last year. She was excited that she didn't have to wear shoes for that one. Thank God, my mother-in-law came to the studio to watch Jaggar so I could help Sage. Two hours later and we were done. Here's a few pictures that I took with my phone. I'll post the real ones when we get them back.

Her ballet individual (That's Ms Sheila helping to make sure everything is just right. She is so good with the girls.)

Getting ready for the ballet group shot. Sage is the 3rd from the left on the front row. ALWAYS on the front row because she's usually one of the smallest in her class. I have to say that she is mainly with first graders because she was put in a more advanced class this year.

Her individual tap. I don't think I actually went with this pose though.

Group tap picture. Again, front row, first one on the left.

Gymnastics.

To Whom it May Concern

The past few weeks have been really great, as Travis and I went through the school of the Spirit class at church. We really learned a lot, but moreso, we were awakened to a lot we already knew, if that makes sense. So, I guess with that being said, you should just brace yourself for the counterattack, so to speak. It happened. In a few ways. It's not really that bad. We're all fine, but it was more just very hurtful and blindsided us. BUT there has to be a lesson here: don't associate with a P.O.S. I'm sorry, that's probably not the lesson. We'll figure out what it is, but that's not really what I want to say because obviously, I just don't have the liberty to give details. God protected us in the best possible way, and I guess that's all I can really say about it.

Something else happened today on top of all of this that has happened to me BEFORE. And what's so funny (read that with sarcasm) is that I was just telling someone about when this happened to me years ago. I'm sitting at church today and someone says it. The sentence that makes my skin crawl. The sentence that, as far as I'm concerned, you should NEVER say to a female. "Julie, I think you're gaining weight." Thanks. Kick me when I'm down. Seriously? I actually got teary. Look, I'm pretty free with what I say. I hate that about myself sometimes. I think the person could see that it hurt me because it wasn't in passing. I couldn't just walk away. So they proceeded to tell me that that was a GOOD thing. That I should probably even gain more. Ha. I'm not in a frenzy over it. I'm actually over it all together really. I've had several pieces of chocolate today. I'm good. It's just, DON'T DO THAT! IT'S NOT NICE. I honestly cannot think of a circumstance where that would be appropriate to say to a girl. I don't care if I'm 8 months pregnant with sextuplets, don't tell me that. Or anyone else!

I'm believing some awesome things are going to happen this week to counter the (little) things that let the air out of our balloons towards the end of this past week.

Wacky Wednesday

In honor of the birthday of the great Dr Seuss, Sage's school has had a different dress up day everyday this week. Today's theme was Wacky Wednesday where they were supposed to wear mismatched clothes. When I was reading the different ones and came across that one, Travis and I both said the same thing (when she wasn't around), "Just let her pick out her own clothes." My little Cyndi Lauper-ish dresser did not disappoint. This is her this morning. When I put her in front of the mirror, she said, "I don't think I'm mismatched. I think I look cute." Yep, mission accomplished. :) This one will never stay inside the lines, and that's okay with me.

Wright's Dairy Farm

In my quest to buy more organic foods, I've overlooked something great that's so close to home: Wright's Dairy Farm. You can't get anymore organic than this as far as milk goes. It's fresh milk right from their farm that is pasteurized but not homogenized, meaning the cream rises to the top. I was a bit scared of this, but I have to say that it is pretty amazing. It's NATURAL and tastes like it's supposed to. I was also thrilled that it's about 3 dollars less to buy a gallon of milk there than it is buying a gallon of organic milk from walmart. And they have a drive-thru! Woot! They also have fresh cheeses, ice cream, ground beef, and preserves. Thank you, Lord for a local answered prayer! I've lived here almost ten years, and I'm ashamed to admit that today was my first visit there but definitely not my last. So before we left, I took Jaggar over to the nursery to see the baby calves, and how sweet they were! He kept saying, "Cow! Cow!!"

When we first walked over, they were sitting like this. There were 3 of them.

Jaggar was not happy to be standing in that mulch stuff. He didn't want to put his feet down, but he adjusted quickly once he saw the "cow."

Then they decided they'd stand and check us out!

How precious is Jaggar's face!!

Sweet baby calf. I hate that I cut his nose off in this picture, but to my credit, the sun was so bright that I couldn't see my phone!

Jaggar is pointing to the calf's nose and saying, "Nose!"

And then he gave it a kiss good-bye. This is my favorite picture! He didn't actually make contact with a kiss, but he tried. :)
