I'm 28 today, which seems crazy because I JUST turned 27 last year. :) Seriously, I can remember my 25th birthday party like it was last week. 28 is a bit strange to me. I keep hearing that line to John Mayer's "Stop This Train" that says:
So scared of getting older.
I'm only good at being young, so I play the numbers game to find a way to say that life has just begun....
Stop this train.
I want to get off and go home again.
I can't take the speed it's moving in
I know I can't But honestly won't someone stop this train
I am still young, I know...but time, it just goes by too quickly these days. I get sentimental about it. It's an odd time right now in life. Lots of changes. Sometimes I think back to a certain point in time and think, "I wish it was like THAT again," but I'm sure it wasn't perfect then either. All we really have is now, and for that, I'm thankful.
I had a fun day. Travis had to work the Auburn game today, so I really didn't see him at all. He did wake us all up at about midnight trying to make me homemade chocolate covered peanuts, but he burned...um NUKED, the chocolate. It was nauseating. I did not see the sentiment in it at the time. But my mom is in town, so we decided to go BACK to Birmingham today to see if I could find some stuff for my birthday.
We were there on Thursday when she flew in, but can you believe I couldn't find ONE thing for myself? What did I buy? Things for my kids. Maybe I AM getting older because I certainly didn't used to have a problem picking things for myself. We were much more successful today. Maybe it just needed to be my actual birthday. We left Birmingham at about 5 and drove back to Anniston for a wonderful dinner at Fuji. It had been a while since I had eaten at the place that used to be the SOLE restaurant I'd eat at in this town. (Thankful I've enlarged my once rigid eating territories) It was really good too, and MOM actually liked it, which was shocking. Then we came home, sang happy birthday, ate cake and put the kids to bed! Been catching up on the blog ever since. I'm very grateful for another year and look forward to a hundred more. :)
The babes and me before we left for Birmingham
Sage in rare form :)
We took a break from shopping to ride the carousel in the mall. My kids love this. Jaggar screams when it's over and reaches to get back on. That's always fun.
I try not to miss photo opportunities ;)
I sat Jaggar on a horse closer to mom before we got off, but he still was in more awe of other things than the camera.
After dinner, at home ready to sing happy birthday. I love the kids' faces in these next few.
If you've ever talked to me much, you may hear me mention Dave Ramsey. I really love him and have started following him a lot the past few months. Travis got me several of his books.
That shirt box....well...ask me about it sometime. ;) And if you are on fb and told me happy birthday, thank you SO, so much! I had well over 100 well wishes, and each one made me feel so special! I've felt very loved on this day!

I looks like you had a great birthday, and judging from fb, you are very loved. I saw a bumper sticker yesterday that I really liked: "Things get better with age...I'm about to be Magnificent!" lol
btw, I'm glad you are blogging again ;)
