Wednesday, February 11th, was Travis's 40th birthday! I tried to think of what the perfect gift would be for this and finally settled on a tv stand. My parents got us a 46 inch Sony flat screen hi def tv for Christmas, and it's been sitting in our floor unused for months. Why?! Everyone seems to ask. That would be because the stand I wanted was close to $500. BUT I thought, for this birthday, he would enjoy nothing more than being able to set up the tv.
I totally surprised him too. He was leaving for work really early on his birthday, but I came downstairs and gave him a card. He said, "A card? I got you a YUKON for your birthday." He was kidding. I said, "I do have something for you. Do you want it now?" He said, "Does Sage have something too?" because she was sleeping and he didn't want her to miss out. I said, "Yeah, she does.'' So he said, "Yeah, you can."
I was making Sage's lunch for school, and (purposefully) said, "Crap. I left her lunchbox in the car." THAT was where the extremely heavy stand was. He said, "I'll go get it. You can get the present." So I watched him go out to the car and open the door. Then he looked back where I was looking through the window. He started laughing. He was totally surprised. Well done for me. :) Later that day, I picked up his cake at the cookie company, which was Sage's surprise. Only she called him on the phone and said, "Daddy, would you hurry up and come home because I want a piece of your cake." There went that surprise. It was a fun day, and hopefully within the next week we'll go out and celebrate with some friends. Happy birthday!Blowing out the candles.
It is sad how little of this is left already.
